Aspen Mountain and its famous black diamond terrain, has been in operations since 1947.

Aspen Mountain offers a variety of glades, bumps and steeps.

The mountain hasn't changed much over the years, but you'll appreciate the new gondola, great views and food.

All four seasons provide great sightseeing in Aspen, but the spring has a few sights in particular that make this season special.

  1. Ski into the sunset. Aspen Skiing Co. keeps Aspen Mountain open later on Fridays in the spring giving you the chance to ski until the sun goes down!
  2. Birds are singing. The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies has birding classes at Hallam Lake in downtown Aspen for you to catch a sight of woodpeckers, nuthatches and other song birds
  3. Stroll through a sanctuary. With the sun staying out longer and temperatures warming, a few flower buds are starting to peak out at John Denver Sanctuary. 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of this tribute park
  4. Visit the Bells. The Maroon Bells are always beautiful, but they’re simply magical covered in snow and sunlight viewing hours are lengthening.
  5. Explore Ice Caves. Glacier activity and raging waters create a spectacular sight up on Independence Pass near the Grottos.
