Why is Big Sky considered "The Biggest Skiing in America?"

The combination of all of these factors:

Unfathomable Space to Ski - A combination of massive terrain and vertical drop that no mountain can rival.  Seamless skiing between 4 mountains, 36 lifts and more than 300 runs.

No Lift Lines and More Slope Time - Due to the World's Most Technologically-Innovative Lift System:

  • The Ramcharger 8 chairlift - This modern marvel will whisk guests from the base of Mountain Village to the top of Andesite Mountain. Take a whisper-quiet ride to Everett's 8800 on North America's first eight-seat, D-line lift, and enjoy ergonomically-shaped, heated seats and a weather-proof bubble.
  • Shedhorn 4 High Speed - This high speed quad will dramatically shorten lift time on the Shedhorn side of the mountain, allowing for more laps on some of the best terrain at Big Sky.
  • Powder Seeker 6 High Speed - Installed in 2016, this speedy 6-pack chair serves above-treeline terrain in the Bowl, and is a skier's favorite for its weatherproof "Big Sky blue" bubbles, heated seats and headrests.
  • Challenger Chairlift - This triple chair features a loading carpet, chairkit gates, and custom operator houses. At the time of its update in 2016, it improved ride times by 25 percent.

The Most Consistent Snowfall in the Northern Rockies:  Based on historical weather patterns, total snowfall deviation at Big Sky is the lowest in the Northern Rockies, driving an average annual snowfall of 400" which fluctuates very little from year to year.  You can book your stay well in advance, and rest assured that there will be good snow for your visit.

Terrain Variety

  • More than 2,300 acres of beginner and intermediate terrain
  • More than 3,525 acres of advanced and expert terrain
  • This equates to the best mix of beginner (15%), intermediate (25%), advanced (42%), and expert (18%) terrain which is perfect for groups and families of mixed ability levels.
  •

Lone Peak, the one and only - Ride the Lone Peak Tram to 11,166 feet for 300 degrees of skiing, views of 3 states, and 2 National Parks. Breathtaking to see, even more breathtaking to ski.
